MISSION

New Opera West (NOW) is non-profit organization that seeks to promote the growth and professional development of composers, librettists and performers in the creation of new opera.

By performing works that explore timely themes and stories that feature opportunities for diverse artists, we strive to not only attract new opera audiences but also work towards the sustainability of opera in the 21st century.

CORE VALUES

Education-- To provide musicians with the tools and space required to create opera in a supportive learning environment.

Connection-- To bring emerging composers, librettists, and performers together to create a richer and more meaningful experience for artists and audiences.

Innovation--To foster new ideas between musicians and create inventive and timely music.

Inspiration-- To inspire artists through the process of making and seeing their work come to fruition, and to expand audiences’ notions of opera and its relevance today.

Inclusion--To bring different voices together to create operas with diverse subjects and stories that engage the world in which we live.
